6/15/14 at Citizens Bank Park

A Summer Sunday (on Father’s Day) with a giveaway is not exactly the best setup for ballhawking, however, there I was, waiting to get into the stadium for a Phillies vs Cubs game.

Obviously, I wouldn’t be putting up huge numbers in this one, so I came in with some low expectations, and the day ended up not being terrible.

When they opened up the gates, nothing was doing in left field so it was off to right, where a few groups of Phillies pitchers were throwing.

I didn’t end up getting a ball from them so it was off to the bullpen to get pictures of former Oriole Jake Arrieta.

When he was done throwing, neither he or the bullpen catcher didn’t throw me up a ball. I hung around for a few minutes and my “work” payed off. I was on the board after a Cubs coach tossed me up this baseball.

Meanwhile, while this was all going on, the Cubs pitchers came out and started throwing.

Most of the guys didn’t throw up their baseballs to the crowd, at least that I saw, but Jason Hammel, who is no longer on the Cubs hooked me up with my second ball of the game.

After this, it was time to head out to the bullpen. The groundskeepers were taking part of throwback day.

As were Tiamo and Stumpo.

Jesus also spent some time biking…IMG_2484

… but not tossing up baseballs.

It was the one time I never saw Tiamo throw baseballs to the crowd, but I guess there’s a first for everything.
